Announcements (as penned by Jette) May 12th-14th 2006: We performed 'Thin Ice' with Miami's New World Symphony at the Saxony Hotel. Special thanks (and hand-selected boxes of truffles!!) to Stacey Glassman and Dustin Budish. April 5, 2006: Angie Braithwaite (darling), Johnny Walker (dearest), and I (whatnot) toasted my 26th birthday at the Yellow Brick Bank (my favorite restaurant/bar). And thus begins another year of art, adventure, work, and progress. Cheers! to Experience-Induced Wisdom. March 1st 2006: Holmie-Darling and the always-Fantastic Avalon Frost had the best-selling single on Deep Dish/Yoshitoshi in 2005: '8 Letters'. February 19th 2006: And the winners of the ACIDplanet/Sony Pictures remix contest for 'In the Presence of' are: Congratulations! and an emphatic 'Thank You' to everyone who gave their time and talent to 'In the Presence of'. Wicked grins & kisses for all! Also on the 19th: I did my first live radio interview with DJ B on 91.1 FM Nashville. Bashfully: I was nervous... January 24th-29th 2006: Holmes and I flew to San Francisco for the privilege of a photoshoot with the ever-charming, exquisite Jules. And I, an admitted Diva only when it comes to choosing promo pictures of myself!, am thrilled with the results. Jules: You're an exceptionally talented, generous angel. Thank you for sharing your art with us! December 19th 2005: There are nine days left of the contest, and we've thus far received 329 mixes of 'In the Presence of'. (!!) Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone for their submissions. We are honored. December 15th 2005: Festival packets are in the mail. Dear God (and) Finally--what a gargantuan amount of time & money. November 28th 2005: Late one Jette-orchestrated night...post love, tears, and shadowboxing, Jette-Ives recorded their interpretation of Chris Isaak's 'Wicked Game'--an incendiary, erotically beseeching commentary on the aftermath of abandonment... November 18th 2005: Jette-Ives is part of ESL's Outernational Music site. Come one / come many future licensing deals! November 11th 2005: Acid Planet is sponsoring a remix contest for our upcoming single, 'In the Presence of'. The contest begins today and continues through December 26th. Prizes will be awarded to the top winners, whose mixes shall be featured on Jette-Ives.com, OVA Records and Holmesives.com. We look forward to hearing all submissions. Contest details are found here. September 1st 2005: Jette-Ives' rendition of 'Eleanor Rigby' is finally -after three months- tagged as a Jette-Ives song. Three months... During which it has been -and remains- the most popular version of 'Eleanor Rigby' (there are eighty in all, give or take a few) on iTunes--downloaded more often than adaptations by Aretha Franklin, Stanley Jordan, and -even- Lennon & McCartney. August 1st - 29th 2005: I am hanging out with & working for the masterminds behind the iconic carnival that is New York City's Webster Hall. SCB Entertainment has given me a feet-first jump into the business world of nightclubs, and I am elated to have the opportunity to work for their new venue (which is currently nameless; although, I'm pushing for Lucid ). Thank you (and cheers! regarding long hours & good times) to Steve Ballinger, Seraphine Wilhelm, Lenny Thorton, and Christopher Eve. In other news: Matt's on vacation (envy abounds); Danny's honing his jazz chops via endless hours of practice & scotch imbibement; and Holmes is mastering his to-be-released-in-November album ( gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! ) In Love & Light . July 19th 2005: Thunderball will be coming out with a November remix of Jette-Ives' first single, 'Vexed'. We are thrilled and flattered. (TigerShark grins) July 12th 2005: I switched to Johnny Walker Black on the rocks (and yes, this is big, website-worthy news!); however, I am willing to return to Bombay July 9th 2005: Holmes and I attended Deep Dish's George is On CD release party in DC. The evening's synopsis: July 5th 2005: Did I mention that Jette-Ives can be found on the VH1 website? A few people have said very nice things about us on our message board. (It's a surreal experience to be unemployed, more near to broke than not, living in The Boondocks of West Virginia, and on vh1.com) July 1st 2005: Jette-Ives and My Space: www.myspace.com/jetteives June 29th 2005: Today, I changed clothing in the Holland Tunnel, switched bras in a taxi, didn't sleep for 30 hours, and made it June 26th 2005: Beatles ReGrooved is no longer #1 on the iTunes’ electronica chart. C’est la vie—the album held the top position for over a week, and Jette-Ives’ ‘Eleanor Rigby’, though still accredited to MystiQuintet, remains a favorite download. June 24th 2005: Special thanks to the Verse Foundation for gifting Jette-Ives with a vastly appreciated grant! June 17th 2005: Koch’s Beatles ReGrooved album is #1 on iTunes’ electronica chart! Jette-Ives’ version of ‘Eleanor Rigby’, an iTunes exclusive, is the third most downloaded song on the album and is also listed in the top 100 iTunes electronica songs. Unfortunately, due to an iTunes snafu, MystiQuintet is accredited with authorship of Jette-Ives’ song. Both bands have been waiting (since June 7th) for iTunes to correct the mistake. June 15th 2005: Martinsburg lawyer (and former West Virginia Mountain Stage representative) Christopher Stroech has agreed to help us navigate the tedium of booking East Coast shows. June 14th 2005: Holmes releases Untie Me, his collaborative album with lovely songstress Sophie Moleta. Matt, Danny, and I congratulate them both on the exquisite artistry of their work. June 1st 2005 : We will not be shooting the ‘Vexed’ video this month—artist and director extraordinaire Hayes Smith is leaving for Berlin and won’t return until September, at which point we will film the deliciously dark and naughty ‘Vexed’. Jette-Ives is incredibly grateful for all of the work, blood, and sweat both Hayes and costuming ingénue Rose Byrne have given to the (immensely) time-consuming task of ‘Vexed’ preproduction. May 25th 2005: We humbly begged Dustin Michael from Experimental Records Nashville to assist us in scheduling our autumn 2005 North American tour—Dustin agreed (Thank you! Thank you!); thus, Holmes and I are far more relaxed (though no less work-oriented) concerning upcoming tour dates and venues (online news of which will be available September 1st). May 21st 2005: Another photo shoot, compliments of photographer Sarah Carter. (Note to ladies everywhere: fake eyelashes are perilous fun) Sarah: I must say that we behaved far better for you than we did for Rose… (I owe you Bombay & chocolate, May 8th 2005: Experimental Records Nashville CEO Dustin Michael tells us that Deep Dish's Shiram often plays the Holmes Ives dance mix of 'Vexed' at his shows. Hence, thank you to Shiram for your support! April 16th 2005: Thank you to Carlos Niederhauser for allowing us to use his 'treasure trove abode' as the backdrop -and inspiration- for one of our photo shoots. Also: special thanks to Rose Byrne for her time, patience (Jette-Ives is a mischievous crew), and talent as a photographer. April 5th 2005: Happy Birthday to Jette! March 20th 2005: The Jette-Ives show at DC9 marked our last performance until August. We need to concentrate on finishing the album, as well as focus ourselves on sifting through various label, distribution, licensing, and publishing deals. March 19th 2005: Jette-Ives had a wonderful time playing at DC9! Thank you to everyone who drove the hour and a half distance from Shepherdstown, WV in order to join and support us! Thank you, also, to our Washington, DC friends who braved Saturday night traffic and a pervasive lack of parking spaces so that we could see their lovely faces in the crowd. (Buster, darling, Holmes says that I'm not allowed Bombay-on-the-rocks refills!)
