Jette Kelly : |

I grew up in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. Aside from being a political science major at Evergreen State College (a senior, thank God) and a jazz vocalist who has toured Europe with the Kevin Yost Live Show (summer 2004), I am a comfortably debauched, indefatigable, salsa-dancing, chocolate fiend who harbors an unabashed reverence for dry red wine in the afternoon, Miles Davis at midnight, and 'Autumn Leaves' a la Eva Cassidy
Anytime.
On a less dignified note: I love to spar, spend obscene amounts of money on luggage, and am the first to admit that Holmes is more of a gentleman than me.
Clandestine occupational desire: To write really awful smut under a seemingly legitimate pen name.
Band mate indiscretions: Matt is the most handsome Viking ice-skater / dessert scoffer I've ever met; Holmes is a phenomenal chef -and a really naughty angel- whose wit takes a turn to the obscene when he spends more than five minutes with Danny. Regarding the latter: The majority of my girlfriends are secretly curious about the bedroom correlation between drummers and rhythm...
Peaches: Should only be eaten in good company. Naked.

No. Jette and I are not sleeping together. Really, for the record: I don't 'do' my divas. With that said: I spend ninety percent of my time in the recording studio. I've played the piano and the bass guitar for 27 years (self-committed) and have written hundreds of songs--many of which have been internationally released on labels such as Yoshitoshi, Deep Dish, Bedrock, Six Degrees, Shinichi, Global Underground, Caffeine, Renaissance, Koch, and the Fifth Column. I've produced and/or remixed for artists such as Moby, Bebel Gilberto, Deep Dish, BT, and John Digweed.
In the kitchen: Jette insists that women worldwide should know that I love to cook. So, OK--I love to cook. But the kitchen should not be relegated solely to food; nor should the table and counters be restricted to eating. With that said, I'm told that the band is hungry, that they relish my cashew coconut shakes, and that I should immediately
Return
To the kitchen.
Where I belong.
(Sigh)
Gentlemanly pursuits: I enjoy traveling, savoring the occasional glass of wine or woman, hiking, reading, watching Jette & the Viking wrestle (it's like something out of "Wild Kingdom"), and making good natured sexually-oriented comments under my breath at all times.
Regarding women: Raspberries... |

I was born in Elm Grove, West Virginia, right outside of Pittsburgh, PA. I've played classical guitar since I was nine and the upright bass since I was fourteen. I've studied with Dr. Nels Leonard (one of Andres Segovia's first American students). Jette-Ives is a stepping-stone to the fulfillment of my true aspiration: I secretly desire to play in a Spanish ACDC cover band. Lyrics must be in Spanish. "El Camino a Inferno...".
Utterly odd: I do a believable 'kitty's got a hairball' impression
Most revered musicians: Bill Evans, Gonzolo Rubalcaba, Chris Potter, Eric Dolphy, Jack DeJohnette, and Scott LaFaro (a.k.a 'god')
Refuses to (unless nicely asked): Do anything. (So sayth Jette)
Kung Fu movies: Any of the Blind Samurai series, Seven Samurai, Game of Death , and Throne of Blood
A little delirious: Caddyshack --the gopher...the dance... |

I've recently returned from six months of an unforgettable, almost regrettable, experience on a cruise ship. Prior to that debacle, I spent a small fortune over the course of five wonderful years for a piece of paper from Shepherd University that classifies me as a beer-drinking Bachelor in the Art of Music. I am a sarcastic, lazy, pessimist who likes to ride bikes, play basketball, and take long walks along the riverside after a candle light dinner and bath. I enjoy spending evenings with my closest boys--hanging out and playing Jenga while contemplating the correlation between rhythm and lovemaking...
Secret indulgence: Riding the mechanical bull at the local redneck bar; singing Karaoke at 'Twan's.
Personal influences from the past: Mark Twain, Benjamin Franklin, Albert Einstein, Rupert Murdok, Anna Nicole Smith, Burt Reynolds, Shakakan, Napoleon, Ghengis Khan, Gandhi and (last but far from least) Hugh Heffner.
Musical inspirations: EVERYTHING.
Intermittent niceties: I occasionally humor Jette by booty dancing with her (Matt refuses; Holmes just laughs), but all I really want are tap shoes.
Last thing on my mind: Unmentionable |
